A Family Legacy of Excellence and Tradition

Jose León Tequila Heritage

A Family Legacy

Jose León's award-winning Ultra-Premium Tequila is more than a spirit—it's a labor of love rooted in generations of tradition. Distilling runs deep in the León family. Joseph's grandparents were skilled distillers before they immigrated to the United States, passing down their passion and knowledge.

On his wife's side, the legacy continues through a proud lineage of farmers—born and raised not far from the Agave Fields, where our agave is grown, harvested, and transformed. This tequila is a true celebration of family, heritage, and the land that inspires us.

We are a Sustainable, Minority, Woman Owned Small Business

Our Tequila Journey

Our journey began in 2020, during a time of global uncertainty. Instead of seeing the challenges as setbacks, we saw them as an opportunity—to slow down, be intentional, and pour even more care into every detail of what we were creating.

We took our time, refining each flavor, aroma, and design element until it felt just right. The result? A truly Ultra-Premium Sipping Tequila, crafted not for the masses, but for those who appreciate quality, character, and soul.

This isn't another celebrity label or mass-market brand. It's a heartfelt expression of passion, tradition, and dedication. Every bottle reflects the energy, pride, and love we've invested from the very beginning.

Blue Weber Agave

Our Blue Weber Agave

Award Winning Ultra-Premium Jose León Tequila's Agave Plants are grown in the Los Valles (Low Lands) of Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. They are meticulously cared for seven years and then harvested by hand.

Prime ripe piñas are then slow roasted in stone oven cookers called hornos for seventy-two hours plus an extra cycle of four hours for a richer cooked/caramelized agave profile, a deeper, richer flavor and aroma.

Traditional Craftsmanship

Once the roasted agave is ready, it is carefully shredded using traditional methods like a tahona (a volcanic stone wheel) and then a modern mechanical shredders to separate the sugary juice from the fibers. The fibers are then sent to be made into other product like household goods, clothing, and industrial supported items.

Fermentation

During the tequila distillation process, master distillers separate the output into three parts: the heads (early volatile alcohols like acetone), the hearts (the clean, drinkable spirit), and the tails (heavier, oily, bitter alcohols). Only the heart is collected for its movement into the final tequila process. The discarded high alcohol fractions are sent to industrial processes to turn into cleaning agents.

The agave sugars are then transferred to large vats to be fermented for up to two weeks and then double distilled in copper pot stills with proprietary yeast for up to 16 days, to remove sulfur compounds and retain its rich, complex agave flavors.

Artisanal Chill Filtration

Stage 3 Filtering

Before moving to storage, the Tequila is filtered with varying levels of woven mesh holes for fine filtration and removal of particles. The final screen is a 200 mesh value (200 micron).

Freeze Filtering

The spirit is then transferred to a Chill tank which chills the spirit down to below-freezing temperatures (often between 26°F and 28°F / -3°C to -2°C). Freezing forces heavier fatty acids, esters, and chemical oils to solidify.

The spirit is then run through a group of depth filters to permanently trap and remove these solids, a process sometimes referred to as "flocking." This ensures the spirit is particle free, remains completely crystal clear, and won't turn cloudy or hazy when transported or stored on cold shelves or served over ice, providing Jose León with its intended unique depth of flavors and aromas.
