Heat
Avoid prolonged or repeated heat exposure.
A short warm delivery does not automatically ruin tequila; both temperature and exposure time matter. For consistent quality, Jose León recommends storage around 59–68°F (15–20°C), away from heat and sunlight. This is an ideal range, not an instant spoilage threshold.
- Flavor and aroma: Extended heat can change the flavor balance and reduce freshness. Cooling afterward may not reverse those changes.
- Cork and seal: Warming expands the liquid and increases bottle pressure, which may cause seepage, move the stopper, or affect closure materials and adhesives.
- Alcohol content: Heat does not burn alcohol out of an intact sealed bottle. If the seal leaks, alcohol and aroma compounds can escape.
